E-goi allows you to create high-impact pop-up forms to easily acquire leads across your site.

What is a pop-up form?

Lead generation is key to grow your business. Pop-up forms help you effectively engage your visitors while blending seamlessly with your website design.

E-goi provides multiple pop-ups so you can swiftly whip it up and customize it to match your needs.

Before you start

Requirements

Before creating a pop-up form in E-goi, think about which info you'll be collecting and how you'll be using it later on. Also be sure to go for a form design and behavior which fits your site layout and provides a nice user experience.

Types of pop-up forms

You can choose from different pop-ups:

  • Pop-up box: Smack right on the center of the page. Perfect to bring special offers to the forefront .
  • Sidebars: Shown on the left or right-hand side of your site.
  • Floating banners: Shown at the top or bottom of the page.
  • Full screen: Similar to pop-up box, but covers the whole page.

Activation triggers

You can have the form pop up in different ways depending on how your visitors interact with your site. Choosing the right behavior trigger is essential to  provide the best user experience. You can trigger the pop-up:

  • When the page first loads.
  • When the visitor clicks anywhere on the page.
  • When the visitor scrolls to a certain point or percentage of the page.
  • When the visitor shows exit intent.
  • After a set amount of time browsing the page.

Step-by-step

Connecting your site to Connected Sites

1) Start by connecting E-goi to your site using Connected Sites.

Creating the form

1) Click the Collect menu, go to Forms, and click Create.

2) Select Pop-up Form, choose the site it'll appear and click Next.

3) Choose From scratch and select the pop-up type.

4) On the options page, set up your pop-up.

  • Internal name: For your reference only.
  • Language: The form language, which will also be used for the double opt-in email.
  • Behavior trigger: To activate the pop-up.

5) Customize the form using our editor. Simply drag-and-drop items from the left-hand panel and set the item options on the right-hand panel. It works  the same as our landing page editor, except this one shows you a preview of the pop-up.

6) You can also set position (left, right, top, bottom) and size (small, medium, large). Click Settings in the top-right corner of the editor if you need to change anything else. When you're done, hit Next.

7) On the behavior page, choose what happens when someone opts-in.

  • Assigned language: People opting in via this pop-up will be assigned the language you choose here.
  • Assign tags: You can tag subscribers to make it easy to segment them.
  • Behavior: Choose what to show when the subscriber is new, already existing or has unsubscribed. You can show a thank-you, redirect to a link (or another page you created in E-goi) or send a double opt-in email.
  • Limit sign-ups: You can cap sign-ups based on IP address, number of subscribers, number of visits or specific date ranges.

Once you're done, click Next.

8) Review your settings. If you need to change anything, click Edit. You can also enable your pop-up at this stage so it shows up on your site based on the trigger you set.

Viewing the form results

1) Go to Collect > Forms > View all.

2) Locate the form you need and choose Results from its right-hand menu.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit a pop-up form after it's live?

Yes, you can edit your form at any time.

Will the pop-up form be displayed on mobile?

Yes. E-goi's pop-up forms are fully responsive.

Can I limit how often the pop-up appears to the same visitor?

Yes. Under the form's settings, choose whether it'll be limited by IP address and nr of subscribers or visits. You can also make it available for a specific time frame only.

Can I change the contact list assigned to the form after creating it?

No. To ensure data integrity, the list is permanently assigned to the form.

As a workaround, you can duplicate the form and assign it to a different contact list:

1) Go to Collect > Forms > View all.

2) Open the form's menu on the right and choose Duplicate.

3) Select the contact list to assign to the duplicated form.

Can the form be affected by ad blockers?

Yes. Learn more in our sign-up page guide.

Can I show my pop-up only to anonymous visitors?

Yes. It can be displayed only to visitors that E-goi hasn't identified yet.

Example: You'll be showing a pop-up with 10% off on the first purchase to first-time visitors, but you don’t want it to be shown to existing customers.
E-goi regards an anonymous visitor as someone who isn't yet identified in any form in your contact list - meaning they don't have a contact ID, email address, mobile number or any other data.

Displaying the pop-up only to anonymous visitors

1) Go to Collect > Forms > View all.

2) Locate the pop-up form you'll be editing and choose Options from its menu on the right.

3) On the form options page, enable Show only to anonymous visitors.

When someone visits your site, E-goi checks whether they are already a contact (if, for example, they made a purchase or clicked through an email you've sent them using E-goi).

  • If the visitor is identified, the pop-up won't be shown.
  • If the visitor isn't identified, E-goi sees them as anonymous and the pop-up will be shown.

E-goi criteria for identifying visitors

A visitor is not considered anonymous when one of the following applies:

  • The visitor landed on your site from a campaign link sent via E-goi (eg. an email campaign).
  • The visitor went back to your site using the same browser and device after having been previously identified by E-goi.
  • The visitor has been tracked to a previous in-site purchase or account creation in your online store.
Important: E-goi can only track purchases or account creations if you integrate E-goi with your online store.

If none of the above applies, the visitor is regarded as anonymous and the pop-up will appear.

Displaying content to anonymous visitors is also available for E-goi's on-site messages. It works the same way as pop-up forms.
