What is E-goi's MCP?
Our MCP (Model Context Protocol) makes it a breeze to connect E-goi to any AI assistants you use, such as ChatGPT or Claude, so you can ask them to fetch and analyze data from your E-goi account as if you were doing a typical AI chat, with no need to log into E-goi yourself.
Use cases
- Analyse campaigns: review results and compare performance across campaigns and time ranges.
- Dig up insights: across your contact lists, segments and what each contact does.
- Create campaigns: generate email campaigns in E-goi built from the items you specify.
- Get actionable reports: Bring up beautiful summaries of your results for easy sharing with your team.
- Spot opportunities: easily pinpoint changes in your engagement and take a deep dive into any unusual results.
Requirements
- An E-goi account with MCP enabled
- Your E-goi account's API key
- An MCP-compatible AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor
Important: Most AI assistants, including Claude and ChatGPT, require a paid plan to use MCP. Free plans generally do not include it.
Pricing
Our MCP is included in all E-goi plansexcept for the GoSend plan.
Before you start
Compatible AI assistants
You can use E-goi's MCP with any AI assistant which supports MCP servers, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini or Perplexity. Connecting to our MCP is slightly different in each case.
Technical knowledge
You don't need any coding skills to use our MCP. Once you've set it up in your AI assistant (see our Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity how-tos), simply start asking questions in the AI's chat.
How it works
- Connect your AI assistant (such as Claude) to E-goi's MCP: you only need to do this once.
- Ask your AI assistant a question: tell it what you'd like to know about contacts, campaigns, lists or any other data in your E-goi account.
- The AI assistant goes and fetches the E-goi data you have access to: the MCP reads data according to the access permissions of the E-goi user.
- Your AI assistant answers in chat: you can then ask follow-up questions and dig into the results.
How data is kept safe
E-goi's MCP approach to security:
- Only E-goi users with administrator access can enable the MCP in E-goi. In addition, any MCP connection to AI assistants will follow E-goi's user permissions, which means users can only access data they've been authorised to see.
- Connecting to the MCP requires your E-goi API key. AI assistants can only connect once you've authorised them with it.
- Connections can be revoked at any time. E-goi will display your active MCP connections (and to which AI assistant) and when each was last used and by whom. Revoking connections takes effect immediately.
Step-by-step
Setting up the connection
1) In E-goi, open your user menu (top-right corner) and click Integrations. Then select MCP E-goi in the left-hand panel.
2) Under MCP server URL, copy our MCP server address:
https://mcp.egoiapp.com/mcp
3) Copy your E-goi account's API key. You'll need it to complete the connection.
Connecting E-goi MCP to Claude
1) In Claude, add a custom connector.
2) Name the connector MCP E-goi and use https://mcp.egoiapp.com/mcp as the MCP server address. Choose Always required for authentication and Anthropic-hosted OAuth client for OAuth. Create the connector.
3) E-goi will bring up window for you to paste your API key. Then click Connect account.
4) Go back to Claude and check that it says Connected to MCP E-goi. Also check Claude's connector list to ensure MCP E-goi is enabled.
Connecting E-goi MCP to ChatGPT
1) In ChatGPT, create a custom plugin which will connect to E-goi's MCP.
2) Name the connector MCP E-goi and use https://mcp.egoiapp.com/mcp as the server address. Select OAuth for authentication. Under the plugin's advanced OAuth settings, be sure Dynamic Client Registration (DCR) is enabled and OIDC enabled is switched off. Create the plugin.
3) Hit Sign in with MCP E-goi. E-goi will bring up a window for you to paste your API key. Then click Connect account.
4) Go back to ChatGPT, start a conversation and click the "+" button next to the chat box (or open the More submenu). Select MCP E-goi.
Connecting E-goi MCP to Perplexity
1) In Perplexity, create a custom connector.
2) Name the connector MCP E-goi and use https://mcp.egoiapp.com/mcp as the server address. Leave the Advanced settings unchanged. Create the connector, select it and enable it.
3) E-goi will bring up a window for you to paste your API key. Then click Connect account.
4) Go back to Perplexity, start a conversation, click the "+" button in the chat, select Connectors and then E-goi MCP.
Asking your first question
1) Once you've set up E-goi's MCP in your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.), start a conversation.
2) Try a prompt like this:
Show me all contact lists in my E-goi account and how many contacts are in each.
3) Check that the response is accurate and includes real data from your E-goi account.
Example prompts
Campaigns and performance
- How did yesterday's campaign perform compared with the average in the last 3 months?
- Which 5 campaigns had the highest click rate this quarter?
- Any campaigns with unusually low click rates?
- Compare email and SMS performance over the last month.
Lists, contacts and segments
- How many contacts joined the "Newsletter" list this month?
- What segments are in my main list and how are they set?
- Show me recent activity for contact x@example.pt.
- Which contact lists have higher-than-usual bounce rates?
Reporting
- Give me an honest assessment of my E-goi account. What's working well, and what needs attention?
- Summarise last month's results for a business presentation.
- Identify which segments lost engagement over the last quarter.
The answers you get depend on the actual data in your E-goi account and the access permissions of the E-goi user asking the questions.
Tips for more relevant answers
- Specify a time frame: "How did my email campaigns perform over the last 30 days?".
- Ask for comparisons: Add "compared with the previous quarter" to put the results in context.
- Use follow-up questions: After a response, ask "Which of those campaigns targeted the VIP segment?".
- Choose a format: Ask for a table, a 5-point summary or a write-up to share with your team.
- Double-check important findings: If a conclusion seems unusual or very different from what you expected, check the same information in E-goi. The MCP can help uncover strange and easy-to-miss patterns, but you should always get the nitty gritty on anything that seems odd or contradictory.
Revoking a connection
1) In E-goi, open your user menu (the top-right corner) and click Integrations. Choose MCP E-goi in the left-hand panel.
2) Revoke the connection you want to disable. The AI assistant using it won't connect anymore.
Frequently asked questions
What can I do with the MCP?
You can retrieve and analyse any data you're authorised to access in your E-goi account, including contact lists, contact details, segments and campaign results. You can also list automations and create campaigns.
MCP does not send campaigns and doesn't delete lists, campaigns or contacts. Under GDPR, data deletion must be done directly in E-goi.
What should I do if the MCP connection isn't working?
- The AI assistant says it can't access E-goi: Check the MCP E-goi connector or plugin is enabled in your current chat with the assistant (eg. Claude). You may need to enable it again when starting a new chat.
- The response doesn't include E-goi account data: Check the status of the MCP E-goi connection in your AI assistant. If it's disabled or displaying an error, set up the MCP again in the assistant and reauthorise the E-goi connection.
- I get an error when authorising the connection in E-goi: You may have pasted your API key incorrectly or the wrong key has been pasted or the key has been since regenerated. Ensure you have the correct API key in E-goi and copy and paste it when authorising the MCP connection.
- I can't find MCP in E-goi's Integrations menu: Contact your E-goi account administrator to check whether MCP is enabled in your account.
- The AI assistant shows data from a different E-goi account: If you have access to multiple E-goi accounts, check which one is selected in the MCP connection in E-goi.
Can I use more than one AI assistant with E-goi's MCP at the same time?
Yes. Each MCP connection is independent and is shown separately in E-goi's connections. For example, you may connect both Claude and ChatGPT to E-goi MCP, then ask ChatGPT to whip up an infographic of your best-performing campaigns while asking Claude to figure out a detailed roadmap for your upcoming campaigns.
