Using the Performance Assistant

In this article

The Performance Assistant uses AI to take a close look at your campaigns and results for easy, actionable ways to improve.

What is the Performance Assistant?

It's a powerful AI-powered E-goi feature which looks at how you're doing your sends (eg. email campaigns) and acquiring contacts (eg. via landing pages) to provide helpful pointers on how to do better.

The Assistant dives deep into your CTAs, copy, opens, clicks, opt-ins and much more to pinpoint what you're doing well and what could be improved.

Example: When creating an email, the Assistant may notice your design is too tight. In a report, it may suggest doing an A/B test in future sends. On a landing page, it may show you a more enticing CTA.

Requirements

  • An E-goi account with a Pro or Corporate plan.
  • If you use the Assistant when creating emails or signup pages:
    • Choose a clear goal (grow sales, promote a cause, etc.), as this helps the Assistant work better for you.
  • If you use the Assistant in reports:
    • At least one sent campaign (email or NPS) or one published signup page with enough data to look at.

Costs

The Performance Assistant is included in the Pro and Corporate plans at no additional cost.

Before you begin

Where you can use the Assistant

The Performance Assistant is available on:

  • Email campaigns
    • In Email Builder (suggests design and content best practices).
    • In the email report (insights on all your result metrics).
  • Signup pages
    • In the page editor (suggests layout, copy, CTAs, etc.).
    • In the pages report (insights on view rates, conversions, etc.).
  • NPS
    • In the NPS report (insights on responses and actionable metris).

How it works

The Performance Assistant compares your campaigns, NPS and landing pages with the goal you've chosen, plus market best practices and how you've been using your E-goi account.

  • Tracks patterns (eg., low opens, lots of clicks but few conversions, unbalanced NPS, etc.).
  • Highlights your strengths (eg. good open rates, strong engagement on mobile, etc.).
  • Points out how you can improve.
The Assistant is not meant to replace your own analysis, but rather make it quicker and help you tell at a glance what will have the most impact.

Step-by-step

Performance Assistant in E-goi's editors

1) Create an email campaign using Email Builder or create a signup page. If you've already got one, edit it.

2) Edit your content as usual (text blocks, images, buttons, etc.).

3) Click the Performance Assistant button at the top

4) Choose the goal for your email campaign or signup page. You may also type in your specific goal.

5) The Assistant will look at your content and provide suggestions, such as:

For email campaigns

  • Subject line and snippet engagement.
  • Content structure and length.
  • Call-to-action placement.
  • What-you're-promising versus what-you're-delivering.

For signup pages

  • Clarity and focus.
  • Opt-in form complexity.
  • Text size and readability.
  • Possible conversion hiccups (too many fields, too many distractions, etc.).

The Assistant's breakdown will be shown as a list of suggestions.

6) Click any suggestion to jump straight to its element in the editor.

7) If you agree with the suggestion, edit the element (eg., a text block) and adjust it. When done, you can click the checkmark to accept it and remove it from the list.

Important! The Assistant will only give you suggestions. It won't modify any content or item directly.

Performance Assistant in E-goi's reports

1) Open the report of your email campaign, signup page or NPS campaign.

Important! The campaign or page must have enough data (opens, visits, etc.) for the Assistant to look at.

2) Click Performance Assistant in the report.

3) Choose the goal you had with your email campaign, signup page or NPS. You may also type in  your specific goal.

5) The Assistant will then provide you with insights:

Insights will be split into two sections:

In the email campaign report

  • Analysis. A broader view of your campaign's performance, including:
    • Whether opens are above, within or below average.
    • Whether this is a good click rate for this campaign type.
    • Whether you've bumped into conversion drop-offs.
    • Any relevant desktop versus mobile engagement.
  • Suggestions. Based on your results, E-goi’s AI will tell you how you can improve, including:
    • Testing new subject lines or audience segmentations.
    • Adjusting send frequency.
    • Improving the button and link placement.
    • Creating automations for openers, VIP or dormant subscribers.

In the signup page report

  • Analysis
    • Form conversion rate
    • Traffic sources
    • How people leave the page
  • Possible ways to improve
    • Testing variations on the header or hero pic.
    • Reducing the amount of form fields.
    • Highlighting main CTAs.
    • Creating different page versions for specific segments.

In the NPS campaign report

  • Analysis
    • Figuring out how promoters, passives and detractors are distributed.
    • Highlighting relevant trends (eg. many detractors in a lifecycle stage).
  • Possible suggestions
    • Promoters: referral campaigns, upsells, reviews, etc.
    • Passives: educational content, extra onboarding, 1-on-1 follow-ups.
    • Detractors: win-back strategies, individual contact, specific offers.
    • If you've got open answers (comments), the Assistant can help spot recurring themes (pricing, support, features, etc.) and point out where you should focus on.

Enabling automatic Performance Assistant insights

E-goi's Performance Assistant can automatically look at your campaign’s results and email you a list of things to improve on.

This is useful to get a quick "how-to-make-it-better" breakdown for your email campaigns without doing a manual insights run after each send.

Enabling automatic insights

When you create an email campaign, in the Setup step, you’ll see an option to auto-email you a performance breakdown after the campaign is sent out:

1) In the Setup step of your email campaign, under Receive a campaign analysis?, enable Receive automatic insights.

2) Under Analyse results based on, choose your goal for this campaign. The Performance Assistant will use it as the main driver.

Example: If your campaign goal is funneling people to a sign-up page, the Performance Assistant will look more specifically at your email clicks and CTA engagement, so you can improve this in your next campaigns.

3) Under When to send the report, choose how many days after the send you'll be emailed the insights breakdown.

Important: As every campaign needs some time to build engagement data, the insights breakdown can only run at least 3 days after the campaign has been sent.

4) Under Who to send the report to, choose the users in your E-goi account who will be emailed the Performance Assistant's insights.

Frequently asked questions

Is this feature available across all E-goi plans?

The Performance Assistant is available in Pro and Corporate plans.

Should I follow the AI suggestions blindly?

E-goi’s AI aims to be as accurate as possible based on the information provided. However, due to the very nature and limitations of AI, in rare cases it may generate:

  • Strange or contradictory content and design pointers.
  • Inconsistencies in metrics.
  • Culturally biased language, excessive emojis or typos.

As with any AI, be sure to validate the Assistant’s suggestions before applying them.

What data does your AI use for analysis?

The Performance Assistant will only use the data necessary to analyze your campaign or page, such as:

  • Statistics (opens, clicks, bounces, conversions, responses, etc.).
  • Campaign or page settings (content, layout, etc.).
  • Aggregate and anonymized data for benchmark metric comparison.

The Assistant does not use personal information to generate recommendations on your contacts. Only aggregated performance data.

Why isn’t the Performance Assistant giving me suggestions?

  • Enough time: For email and NPS campaigns, wait at least 1–2 hours after sending.
  • Data volume: If after this time the campaign or page still has few interactions, the Assistant may not have enough data to generate recommendations.
